The history of Korati in Hoskote taluk, Bengaluru Rural, told through novelist Korati Srinivasa Rao.
Korati Srinivasa rao, a famous Kannada novelist, was born on October 19, 1925, in Korati, a village in Hosakote taluk. His father was Sripadarao and his mother was Namagiriamma. Srinivasarao, who completed his early education in Hosakote and Bangalore, obtained his B.A. and B.Com degrees from the University of Mysore and obtained his M.A. from Karnataka University in 1957. Srinivasarao, who started his career in 1952 as a teacher at the Hosakote Municipal High School, served at various levels as a high school teacher in Gandhinagar, an employee at the Indian Telephone Factory and the accounting offices of Bangalore, as the deputy editor of the Samyukta Karnataka Hubballi edition, as a lecturer in the Kannada department of the Commerce, Arts and Science College of Acharya Pathashala, Bangalore, as a lecturer, a lecturer, and as the vice-principal of the evening college. Korati Srinivasarao made significant achievements in the creation of historical and social novels. His social novels include Kaannirin Kadalu, Mangala Deepa, Vidyadhara, Grihini, Miss Lilavati, Mamataya Suli, Ooru Kavalodedaga, Chaitrayatra, Toori Banda Taare etc. Korati Srinivasa Rao's major historical novels include about twenty novels about the Vijayanagara Empire. These include Devagiri Patan-2 Part, Kannadiga Kaalratri, Balidan, Rajyodaya, Raya Parabhava, Gajabentekara, Rajyakranti, Taulaveshwara, Nagaladevi, Jaganmohini, Shantivaadi, Rajdrohi, Amatya Ratna, Hucchu Dore, Rakkasathangadi, Raghunath Vijaya, Devikote, Ghati Kalaha, Rajyakshaya etc. His other historical novels are Mysore Huli, Huliya Naam, Vyaghranakh, Dharmadikshe, Ubhaya Lokeshwara, Tejasimha, Rani Chennammaji, Gunavanthi, Raja Venkatappanayaka etc. Among Raya's religious works are Sri Tirupati, Sri Madhwacharya, Jayatirtha, Vyasa Raya, Vadiraja, Raghavendra Swamy, Purandaradasa, Sripadaraja etc. Apart from these, nine historical story collections, several works written for Bharata-Bharati, and a translation of Adimanavaru are among the diverse works of Srinivasa Raya. His novels about Vijayanagara have also been translated into Telugu and are famous. 'Miss Lilavati', which is considered to be one of the important films of Kannada cinema, is based on a novel by Korati Srinivasa Raya. 'Gruhini' is another film based on a novel by him. Korati Srinivasa Rao has received many honors, including the first prize from the state government for his work Amatya Ratna, a prize from the Culture Department for his work Vyasa Raya, a felicitation at the Krishnadevaraya Vardhanti Rajatotsava held in Penugonde, and a grand felicitation in Bangalore under the Tirumala Tirupati Dasa Sahitya Yojana. Korati Srinivasa Rao passed away on April 25, 1983. Our tribute to this great soul.
