'Nagalapura' is a village located in Turuvekere taluk, Tumkur district. This place is almost unknown but has two significantly beautiful and ornate Hoysala temples, which probably would have been grand like any other Hoysala temple, but today is nothing but ruins. Nagalapura was a prosperous town under the Hoysala rule, whose grandeur can be felt when we look at these temple . Like most of the Hoysala towns, this too has a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva (Kedareshwara) and another temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Chennakeshava). The Kedareshwara temple is situated at the entrance of the village. This is bigger than the Chennakeshava temple though both have the same plan of construction. The Chennakeshava Temple in Nagalapura is located in turuvekere taluk of Tumkur district in Karnataka.Located in Nagalapura villageA historical and lesser-known temple from the Hoysala period. It is one of the twin temples built in the mid-13th century (circa 1250-1260 CE), the other being the Kedareshwara (Shiva) temple. This is an Ekakuta (single sanctum) temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The Hoysala style star-shaped base, beautifully carved pillars and the carvings of lotus and Ashtadikpalakar on the roof of the navaranga are the attractions of this temple. Currently, the spire and the porch portion of this temple are missing and it is under the protection of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
