At a distance of 35 Kms from Mysore, Agasteswara temple is a famous temple built at the confluence of two rivers - Cauvery & Kabini (Kapila).
According to scriptures Maharishi Agasthya went through the Dandakaranya. He reached this place and wanted to offer prayer to Lord Shiva. He ordered Hanuman to get a Shiva Lingam from Kashi for pooja. By the time Hanuman brought the Lingam, Agasthya made a Lingam out of sand and started to worship it. Lord Hanuman was annoyed and tried to destroy the lingam. The height of the lingam grew to about 60 feet.
The panchalingas of T.Narasipur include the lingas at Someshwara lingam, Markandeshwara lingam, the Gargeshwara Lingam at Gargeshwari village, along with the Agasthyeshwara and the Hanuman Lingam at T.Narasipura.
Kumbhamela is performed once in 3 years, only at this location in South India.

The village has the ruins of an ancient Fort, known as Chikkajala Fort. There are also temple ruins beside the fort. Hoysala king, Vishnuvardhana (1108-1152) constructed the ancient Chennaraya (Chennakeshava) temple in the village.
According to the 2011 Census of India, Chikkajala had a population of 6,154 and a total area of 2.52 km2. Males and females constituted 55.72 per cent and 44.28 per cent respectively of the population. Literacy at that time was 76.97 per cent. People classified as Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes under India's system of positive discrimination accounted for 25.33 per cent and 3.67 per cent respectively of the population.

'Nagalapura' is a village located in Turuvekere taluk, Tumkur district. This place is almost unknown but has two significantly beautiful and ornate Hoysala temples, which probably would have been grand like any other Hoysala temple, but today is nothing but ruins.
Nagalapura was a prosperous town under the Hoysala rule, whose grandeur can be felt when we look at these temple . Like most of the Hoysala towns, this too has a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva (Kedareshwara) and another temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Chennakeshava). The Kedareshwara temple is situated at the entrance of the village. This is bigger than the Chennakeshava temple though both have the same plan of construction.

The Chennakeshava Temple in Nagalapura is located in turuvekere taluk of Tumkur district in Karnataka.Located in Nagalapura villageA historical and lesser-known temple from the Hoysala period. It is one of the twin temples built in the mid-13th century (circa 1250-1260 CE), the other being the Kedareshwara (Shiva) temple. This is an Ekakuta (single sanctum) temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The Hoysala style star-shaped base, beautifully carved pillars and the carvings of lotus and Ashtadikpalakar on the roof of the navaranga are the attractions of this temple. Currently, the spire and the porch portion of this temple are missing and it is under the protection of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

The Lakshminarasimha temple at Javagal, sometimes referred to as Lakshmi Narasimha temple of Javagallu, is a mid-13th century Hindu temple with Hoysala architecture. It is located in Javagal about 20 km northeast from Halebidu and 50 km from Hassan city, Karnataka state, India. This triple shrine temple is dedicated to Narasimha, the man-lion avatar of Vishnu. It was completed between 1250 and 1260 CE by King Vira Someshwara of the Hoysala Empire.
The temple is a compact illustration of a square plan typical of Hindu temple architecture, but one where the three sanctums share a common mandapa (hall). These sanctums are dedicated to Lakshminarasimha, Sridhara, and Venugopala. It is notable for its lavish artwork consisting of over 100 panels, all intricately carved both outside and inside. Many of these panels depict legends from the Ramayana.

Alampuram (Hemalapuram) is a town situated in Jogulamba Gadwal district in the Indian state of Telangana. Alampur is a popular Hindu pilgrimage site in Shaktism and is also home to the Navabrahma Temples, a group of nine temples dedicated to Shiva[5] built in the seventh and eighth century CE. It is the meeting point of the rivers Tungabhadra and Krishna and is referred to as Dakshina Kasi and is also considered the western gateway to Srisailam. The sacredness of Alampur is mentioned in the Skanda Purana. It is surrounded by the Nallamala hills and is situated on the left bank of the Tungabhadra River. Alampur was ruled by badami chalukyas they built 9 cluster of shiva temples. After them rashtrakutas of manyakheta and western chalukyas of karnataka built papanasi temples. Alampur is home to multiple Telugu and old Kannada inscriptions.Alampur contains numerous Hindu temples, the prominent ones being Jogulamba temple, Navabrahma temples, Papanasi temples, and Sangameswara Temple.
Jogulamba temple is one of the eighteen Maha Shakta pithas, which are the most significant shrines and pilgrimage destinations in Shaktism. The Navabrahma Temples[3][4] are nine temples dedicated to Shiva built in the seventh and eighth century CE by the Badami Chalukyas. The Navabrahma temples are listed as an archaeological and architectural treasure on the official "List of Monuments" prepared by the Archaeological Survey of India. Papanasi temples are a group of twenty three Hindu temples dated between 9th- and 11th-century located in Papanasi village, 2.5 km (1.6 mi) to the south-west of Alampur. Papanasi temples are close to the Navabrahma Temples of the Shaivism tradition, but were constructed a few centuries later by the Rashtrakutas and Western Chalukyas.

It is a twin temple with the two sanctums facing each other. The sanctum next to the larger mandapa opens to the east and is dedicated to Shiva, while the other near the two entrances is dedicated to Surya. Artworks of Shaivism, Vaishnavism, Shaktism and the Vedic deities are reverentially displayed, along with panels depicting scenes from the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the Bhagavata Purana. Also included are scenes of artha and kama (mithuna, amorous couples). The temple is protected as a monument of national importance by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Agrahara Belaguli is a village in Karnataka, India. It is situated about 25 km northeast from Channarayapattana in Hassan district. It was a major town before the 14th century during the Hoysala times. Early inscriptions here date from the 11th and 12th-century. Kesava Dannayaka, a general of king Vira Ballala, added several Hoysala temples dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu here in early 13th-century. He also constructed a water reservoir called Kesavasamudra. This historic water infrastructure is now to the west of the village. The village became an Agrahara who were believed to be following Shatkarmas (ADHYAYANA (Study), ADHYAAPANA (Teaching), YAJANA (Fire-Sacrifice), YAAJANA (Instructing Yajana), DAANA (Offerings/Donations), PRATIGRAHA (Receiving Daana)) in the second half of the 13th century, renamed as Kesavapura. This town was destroyed after the 13th century. Belaguli is now a small village, and most of the historic temples ruined. Of these, the Betteshvara temple, Kesavesvara temple in inscriptions survives in the most preserved form. This is a twin-temple, with two equal sanctums, one dedicated to Kesava-Vishnu and other to Isvara-Shiva. It has beautifully carved pillars and partly mutilated remains of Shaivism, Vaishnavism, Shaktism and Vedic deity relief panels.
