At a distance of 35 Kms from Mysore, Agasteswara temple is a famous temple built at the confluence of two rivers - Cauvery & Kabini (Kapila). According to scriptures Maharishi Agasthya went through the Dandakaranya. He reached this place and wanted to offer prayer to Lord Shiva. He ordered Hanuman to get a Shiva Lingam from Kashi for pooja. By the time Hanuman brought the Lingam, Agasthya made a Lingam out of sand and started to worship it. Lord Hanuman was annoyed and tried to destroy the lingam. The height of the lingam grew to about 60 feet. The panchalingas of T.Narasipur include the lingas at Someshwara lingam, Markandeshwara lingam, the Gargeshwara Lingam at Gargeshwari village, along with the Agasthyeshwara and the Hanuman Lingam at T.Narasipura. The Mallikarjuna temple, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, is in Basaralu, a small town in the Mandya district, Karnataka state, India. Basaralu is close to Nagamangala and about 65 km from the culturally important city of Mysore. The temple was built by Harihara Dhannayaka around 1234 A.D. during the rule of the Hoysala Empire King Vira Narasimha II. This temple is protected as a monument of national importance by the Archaeological Survey of India. ಬಸರಾಳು. ಇದು ಹೊಯ್ಸಳ ವಾಸ್ತುಶಿಲ್ಪದ ಅಲಂಕೃತ ಉದಾಹರಣೆಯಾದ ಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನ ದೇವಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ನೆಲೆಯಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿಂದೂ ದೇವರಾದ ಶಿವನ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಹೆಸರಾದ ಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನನಿಗೆ ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. 1234 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಯ್ಸಳ ರಾಜ ವೀರ ನರಸಿಂಹ II ರ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಂಡನಾಯಕ ಹರಿಹರ ನಾಯಕನು ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದನು. ಹಿಂದೂ ದೇವರಾದ ಶಿವನಿಗೆ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತವಾಗಿರುವ ಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು, ಭಾರತದ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಬಸರಾಳು ಎಂಬ ಸಣ್ಣ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಬಸರಾಳು ನಾಗಮಂಗಲಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖವಾದ ಮೈಸೂರಿನಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 65 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ಹೊಯ್ಸಳ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯದ ರಾಜ ವೀರ ನರಸಿಂಹ II ರ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು 1234 AD ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹರಿಹರ ಧಣ್ಣಾಯಕ ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದನು. ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವನ್ನು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಪುರಾತತ್ವ ಸರ್ವೇಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆಯ ಸ್ಮಾರಕವಾಗಿ ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
